Cathedrals of Nature

Often, the photographs I take depict landscapes or showcase macro structures of plants. I try to portray, on one hand, the sacredness and purity of nature as an ideal and dreamlike place. On the other hand, I also aim to capture the intricate and perfect micro and macro structures that nature reveals, which often surpass the tallest constructions of human engineering. In fact the project is titled “The Cathedral of Nature” where the white beech trees of Mount Amiata in Tuscany resemble Gothic cathedrals.

Questi lavori inizialmente nascono da un rifugio in natura sul Monte Amiata (Toscana). Con le mie fotografie, che hanno come spesso soggetto il paesaggio o le piante, cerco di rappresentare la sacralità della natura, il suo essere un luogo puro e incontaminato che, visto come macro o microstruttura, rimanda alle più alte costruzioni umane, le cattedrali. In qualche modo, così, la natura si presenta come l’oggetto d’arte più alto e perfetto, da rispettare e da conservare.
